Omani tourists drugged, robbed of their belongings in Thailand
(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Two Omani tourists were drugged and robbed in South Pattaya, Thailand, in the early hours of Friday morning after being tricked by a local woman.
According to the Pattaya Daily News the two Omani nationals were returning to their hotel in Soi Kor-Phai, Chonburi Province when a woman, described by police offers as having 'light coloured skin and between 30-35 years of age', took them to the 'Seat House' motel where they were given drugged beverages.
They fell unconscious waking up only several hours later to find the woman gone and their belongings, including some US$400 and a mobile phone, missing.
The tourists raised an alarm with motel management and were subsequently attended by Pattaya police officers, and provided official statements, before being taken to a nearby hospital for medical checks.
Pattaya police officials stated that the woman could be part of a criminal gang involved in the drugging and stealing property from tourists.
The woman has not been traced yet and, investigations are on.
