Heavy Rains Leave More than 30 People in India


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) At least 30 people died in floods and house collapses over four days of storms in two eastern Indian coastal states, reports said Saturday. At least 20 people had died in Andhra Pradesh state, and 10 in Orissa state, Doordarshan television reported. Thousands of villages and residential areas in dozens of towns and cities were cut off, it said. More than 67,000 people had been evacuated to relief camps. In neighbouring Orissa, the death toll rose to 54 in flood and rain-related incidents since October 11, according to the dpa. Train services along the eastern coast were been suspended, reported the German news agency.
