(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The UAE and Saudi Arabia are pillars and engine of growth within the region, Dell Middle East marketing director Basil Ayass told Khaleej Times at Gitex Technology Week.
"We also see larger growth in developing countries like Jordan and Iraq," Ayass said, adding: "That's for growth, but for size the UAE and Saudi Arabia are the largest markets within the region."
Explaining the growing importance of two big markets in the region, he said that governments in the UAE and Saudi Arabia are very focused on investment in healthcare, education and oil and gas sectors.
That might be the reason; Dell Middle East is showcasing solutions for oil and gas and education sectors in addition to financial sector covering banks, insurance and stock exchanges at Gitex.
Dell unveiled its latest array of end-to-end solutions, demonstrating how its cutting-edge technology can help region's businesses manage and scale their IT operations.
"We have solutions for all sectors but specifically, we are focusing oil and gas, education and financial sectors at Gitex," Ayass explained. The company is showcasing its solutions in four different zones at the exhibition. He said Dell believes technology priorities can be categorised into four key pillars: Transform; Connect; Inform; and Protect. The company is demonstrating on the stand how these pillars can be used to solve technology challenges.
When asked Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) concept attracts is a security threat for any company, he agreed, but said Dell has specially designed solution for it. Companies can move to BYOD without compromising on security, he added. Dell will also demonstrate how recent acquisitions such as Wyse, AppAssure, Kace, SonicWall and Quest can help organisations and partners address technology challenges. Joining Dell on its stand this year is close alliance partner, VMware.
Ayass declined to give any forward looking assessment, but said that today IDC classified Dell as No. 1 vendor in the Middle East from PC and laptop perspective. "We are the fastest growing in server space and No.3 in networking stage," he added. "We sell PC and data centre products and the growth is coming from data centre. Last quarter results show data centre and servers grew 18 per cent year-on-year globally. We see same trend in the region," he explained. Talking about the Gitex experience, he said the exhibition has been phenomenal in terms of quality and quantity of attendees. "We see partners visiting here from all around the world, specially from the Middle East, Africa, India and Pakistan," he said.
Many of Dell Middle East customers and partners from the region travel to Gitex, and this is an opportunity for Dell to reach out to them and demonstrate Dell's end-to-end integrated solutions, according to the company.
