Asian shares dropped early trading Thursday led by Japanese shares, along with more gains for the yen against major currencies.

The MSCI Asia Pacific index slid 0.2 percent by 9:54 AM in Tokyo, ahead of data on Chinese manufacturing.

Japan`s Topix Index slid 0.4 percent, after losses seen yesterday, while Australia`s S&P/ASX 200 Index climbed 0.4 percent, after it ended a six-day sreak of gains yesterday. The South Koran Kospi fell 0.1 percent, and futures on Hong Kong`s Hang Seng Index dropped 0.4 percent.

Today`s losses came alongside the Japanese yen`s strength that was holding around 97.47 against the dollar, after recording the highest close since October 9. The continuous gains for the yen will be weighing on companies` performance and exports, which will reflect on shares moves.
