EU shares plunge in closing on Orange and STMicro lower sales

The EU shares plummeted throughout the closing session as gloominess spread after companies from Orange SA to STMicroelectronics NV reported lower quarterly sales after the EU local stock market witnessed it longest rally for the region’s equities in 40 months.

CAC 40 Index

The French index fell 18.51 points or 0.43% to finally close at 4295.43. The index started the session at 4264.98 and recorded throughout the day its highest level at 4309.15 and its lowest level at 4263.23.

The worst performing shares in terms of subtracted value for the index were led by the STMicroelectronics NV share as it plummeted 9.45% to end at €5.77, following is the Orange SA share as it shed 5.26% to settle at €10.09.

DAX Index

German equities retreated today as the benchmark index DAX 30 closed the session lower by 80.24 points or 0.90% at 8947.46. The index started the session at 8853.87 and recorded throughout the day its highest level at 8849.16 and its lowest level at 8887.63.

The worst performing shares in terms of subtracted value for the index were led by the Commerzbank AG share as it plummeted 4.24% to end at €9.335, following is the Deutsche Bank AG share as it shed 2.32% to settle at €35.80.

FTSE 100 Index

The British benchmark index ended the day lower to settle at 6695.66 with a loss of 41.46 points or 0.62%. The index started the session at 6695.66 and recorded throughout the day its highest level at 6719.27 and its lowest level at 6653.70.

The worst performing shares in terms of subtracted value for the index were led by the ARM Holdings PLC share as it plummeted 5.03% to end at £953.50, following is the Antofagasta PLC share as it shed 4.26% to settle at £865.50.
