OAMC to handle growing passenger traffic in Oman


(MENAFN) The Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC) is growing to keep up with increase in passenger traffic and flight numbers, Times of Oman reported. The general manager of the Muscat Airport said at the first Oman Airport Awards: "The number of passengers increased by 16 per cent in 2012, compared to the previous year. On the other side, air cargo reached 91.624 million tonnes in 2012." Passenger traffic at the Muscat International Airport increased by 14 percent last year versus the year before it, while aviation traffic increased 7 percent. At Salalah Airport, passengers grew by 22.6 percent in 2012 compared to 2011 and aviation traffic went up 12 percent. Last year, passenger traffic around the world decreased by 1.7 percent, while in the Middle East region it grew by 3.1 percent.
