Mobily recorded roaming growth this Haj season

(MENAFN) Mobily recorded a remarkable increase in the number of users of the international roaming networks in the holy sites of Makkah and Medinah during the Haj season of 2013, Saudi Gazette reported. The number increased by 83 percent despite the reduced number of this year's pilgrims by 30 percent due to the enormous expansion at the holy mosque in Makkah. Although, Mobily has confirmed that the number of new pilgrim subscribers recorded a decline of 15 percent compared to last year's season, especially in the holy sites in Makkah unlike Madinah which had good growth in the number of visitors compared to the same period last year. As for the international calls, Mobily networks recorded a noticeable increase in Madinah which exceeded 21 percent, and a decline of 20 percent in Makkah compared to the same period last year. However, the remarkable growth came from the size of the data transmission during the season and data transmission reached its peak on Arafat day surpassing 273 percent compared to the same day last year.
