Saudi - Holiday road death toll 20


(MENAFN- Arab News) Eid Al-Adha holiday road accidents have claimed the lives of at least 20 people in the Kingdom. A road accident led to the death of three expatriates on Friday evening, 140 km from Buraidah, near Qassim Cement Factory. The deceased were on their way back from Onaiza where they had spent their Eid holidays, when a flat tire caused their minivan to overturn. Rescue teams from the Saudi Red Crescent and Civil Defense went to the accident scene. The victims were transferred to three hospitals in Buraidah, while two of the victims who were in critical conditions were transported to King Fahad Specialist Hospital in Buraidah by helicopter. Three of the victims were declared dead on Friday and four others are in intensive care unit, informed sources told Arab News. Officials were able to identify two of the victims as Rajesh Kumar Yadav and Rajullah, Indian nationals from Uttar Pradesh and working in Buraidah. The other deceased passengers are believed to be Bangladesh nationals. However, their identities could not been confirmed. In a separate accident in Buraidah, four people were found dead in another car accident in which two cars collided east of the city, near Al Rajhi farms. According to Qassim traffic police, one of the cars was speeding in the wrong direction. In another tragedy, five people including children were killed in the early hours of Friday when a speeding car collided with another vehicle at Anas Bin Malik roundabout at King Abdulaziz Road in Riyadh. Officials also reported a fatal car accident in Amlaj, on Yanbu road in Tabuk area, which led to the death of eight people. Details of this accident were not available.
