Kuwait- Court acquits expatriate of cheating policewoman

(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Misdemeanor Court of Appeals overruled the verdict issued by the Court of First Instance, which had sentenced an expatriate to three-year imprisonment for allegedly swindling a policewoman of KD 60,000. The court instead acquitted him all charges. According to the case files, the Public Prosecution accused the defendant of taking two mobile phones, an IPad and some bank cards illegally from the plaintiff, even though he claimed she had apparently provided these items to him as deposit. After convincing her that he will marry her, he had deceived the woman by asking for the money for a project to establish a company, which she lent to him. During the court session, Attorney Zaid Al- Khabbaz said the plaintiff used her work prerogatives to fabricate evidences against his client in order to pressurize him to marry her. He stressed that the written and spoken testimonies of the plaintiff are contradicting, which provokes suspicions and is interpreted for the good of the defendant. He added that the plaintiff filed the case against his client with malicious intent after he refused to marry her for some private reasons which she is aware of.
