(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) The 9th Session of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA)'s Committee on Social Development kicked off here on Saturday with the participation of representatives of ministries of social development, labor and planning as well as concerned regional and international developments ministries in the member states.
During the two-day event, the participants are to discuss issues pertaining to social development in the region, including employment, the role of the youth in social cohesion and the role of the civil society in political changes
The current session ialso aims to provide an official forum to discuss proposals and recommendations related to the formulation of the ESCWA programme of work in the field of social development and ways to improve the programme and its activities
The session also aims at reviewing achievements of ESCWA Social Development Division (SDD) and its reports on the priority issues in the field of social development.
