Kuwait- Man Acquitted Of Carrying Drugs, Driving Sans Licence


(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Criminal Court acquitted a citizen of possessing narcotics and alcohol for consumption purpose, and driving under the influence of drugs and without driving license. The case files indicated the suspect had been convicted of a similar crime before and sentenced to five years imprisonment with hard labor. According to the prosecution officer, the suspect was intercepted by patrol officers when they noticed erratic manner in which his vehicle was moving. The suspect couldn't provide identification papers. It was then they realized he was not in normal condition. This prompted the officers to conduct a search on him and found narcotics. They also recovered alcohol from his car. Defense Attorney Hinadi Shukrallah implored the court to acquit her client of all charges, citing faulty procedures that led to his arrest. She told the court her client who was not a suspect had been arrested without warrant in the presence of only one witness who happened to be the prosecuting officer. The lawyer also demanded the court to nullify the confessions made by her client during interrogations.
