China exceeds US as the biggest oil importer

(MENAFN) US government data have reported China as the biggest oil importer in the world, beating the United States in its previous years' record, according to Gulf News. Oil consumption reached more than 6.3 million barrels per day in China. As a result, China was forced to import that much to cover the country's demand. Energy Information Administration said: "China"s steady growth in oil demand has led it to become the world"s largest net oil importer, exceeding the United States in September 2013. EIA forecasts this trend to continue through 2014."
