Oman to take part in West Asian junior meet


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) A total of 14 athletes from Oman will participate in the second West Asian Junior Athletics Championship in Amman, Jordan, from October 23-25. 

The team was finalised by the board of directors of the Oman Athletics Association (OAA), which is headed by Sheikh Saif al Hosni, according to a press release from the OAA.

Buoyed by the performance of the athletes at the Islamic Solidarity Games, which concluded in Indonesia recently, the OAA has decided to retain Mazoon al Alawi and Raghad al Zubaidi in the girls' team.

Both the athletes had won bronze in Indonesia with Raghad claiming a medal in shot put while Mazoon finishing third in the 4x100m relay.

Team: Boys: Khalid al Busaidy, Adnan al Kahali, Zayed al Busaidy, Amjad al Balushi, Zayed al Siyabi, Sami al Kharusi, Mohammed al Rashdi, Nasser Abdul Wahid, Muataz Iskander, Ahmed al Owaisi.

Girls: Mazoon al Alawi, Rawan al Hashmi, Raghad al Zubaidi, Hana'a al Qasmi.

Coaches: Said al Harthy, Mohammed al Hooti, Abdullah al Anbari and Guzel Khubbieva.
