Survey Shows Wealth of Rich Nations Mostly Restored


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Countries worst hit by the global financial crisis have rebounded strongly in the past five years, a global survey of the wealth of nations revealed Wednesday. The star performer in the annual rankings is the United States, which accounted for almost three-quarters of the lift in global wealth documented in the Credit Suisse 2013 Global Wealth Report "It is this recent spurt that has enabled North America to re-establish itself as the region with the highest aggregate level of household wealth," the bank said, reported DPA A recovery in both house prices and equity values is testimony to renewed strength in the US and Canada Also on the rebound is the eurozone, with the last 12-month period seeing a recovery of more than half of the loss in wealth experienced in the 12 months earlier On the other side of the ledger is Japan, which dropped out of the top 10 wealthiest nations The latest annual report, the fourth in the series, shows wealth creation in emerging economies slowing Brazil and Russia have been hurt by the declining value of their currencies South Africa and Mexico are also laggards.
