Japan, Indonesia Agree to Enhance Economic Cooperation


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono agreed Monday to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation in areas such as energy development and infrastructure building, Japanese officials said. The two leaders met on the sidelines of a summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in Bali, according to the Kyodo news agency. Indonesian President Yudhoyono expressed hope for more Japanese investment, while Abe said he believes Indonesias growth and prosperity is essential to the Asia-Pacific region, they said Abe is keen to deepen ties with fast-growing Southeast Asian nations to help revitalize the Japanese economy. The Japanese prime minister also sought Indonesias cooperation for a special Japan-ASEAN summit to be held in Tokyo in December, they said.
