Etihad Rail is Silver Sponsor of Trans4 2013 Qatar Conference


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency)   Etihad Rail will be the silver sponsor of the second edition of The International Transport and Logistics Industry Exhibition and Conference (Trans4 2013) to be held in Qatar from November 26 to 28 at the Doha Exhibition Center. Qatars Al Baida Group and Etihad Rail signed an agreement for the silver sponsorship of Trans4 2013 supported by Qatar Chamber of Commerce, Federation of Gulf Co-operation Council Chambers, FIATA and Ghorfa. Al Baida representative Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ali Abdul Latif Al Misnad and Etihad CEO Dr Nasser Al Mansoori signed the sponsorship agreement. Speaking on the occasion, Al Mansoori said, "This exhibition is in response to the transformations taking place in the transport and logistics sectors in the GCC. We are pleased to be involved in its second edition as it offers a platform for knowledge-sharing with our GCC counterparts and stakeholders about the latest transportation technologies, and to enhance relationships with the many major international companies that are participating." The expo offers opportunities for partnerships among Gulf-based and international firms which shown their confidence in this sector and the key role it will play in spurring economic growth in the region, he said. GCC nations have planned for approximately $100 Billion worth of railway projects on the anvil. Al Misnad expressed his appreciation to Etihad Rail for sponsoring the Trans4 2013 expo and conference, which he said confirms the companys support for value-added initiatives for Gulf economies which are on the verge of a major boom in transport-related investments. The Al Baida CEO said the GCC countries are on the verge of a major boom in transport-related investments. "The expo and the conference workshops will support the efforts of the GCC nations in economic integration. These countries realize the importance of transport-related infrastructure projects in achieving these goals, especially since the features of the Gulf rail network project have started to emerge. All Gulf countries are now developing their internal networks with a view to linking them together to provide GCC regional rail freight and passenger services." Al Misnad stressed the conference will present opportunity to exchange experiences among the entities supervising the implementation of transport projects in the Gulf, to come out with recommendations and solutions that can contribute to expediting the programmes and plans. "The feasibility study for the Gulf railway project in 2009 proposed a plan for the construction of a GCC Railway Mainline comprising 2,177 kilometers of rail tracks, at a cost ranging between $15.5 and $20 Billion," he added.
