Filipinas in medical test fraud jailed for 3 months

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A saleswoman, who unlawfully solicited the help of a compatriot friend to undergo a medical fitness test on her behalf, since she had a contagious disease which would stop her from getting her visa renewed, has been sentenced to three months in jail. According to the prosecution records, the 41-year-old Filipina, J.A., wanted to renew her residence visa. So she gave her accomplice, R.A., a 33-year-old maid, her passport and the fitness test form in order to apply for the test on her behalf at the Karama medical fitness centre. R.A. has also been sentenced to three-month imprisonment on the charge of using the medical fitness test application, which is an official document, in J.A.s name. The Dubai Court of First Instance also ordered their deportation after serving their jail time. R.A. admitted during investigation that J.A. handed her the latters original passport and told her to go for the test on her behalf. R.A. went to Al Karama medical centre but she was exposed by one of the workers there. J.A. confirmed R.A.s statement. An Indian blood sample collector, 34, said during investigation that R.A. came to the centre on August 4 to take the blood test necessary for residence visa renewal. On checking the passport, the worker noticed that the photograph on it looked different from the person in front of her. When she confronted R.A. with this suspicion, she became tense and admitted that the passport and application belonged to her friend J.A., who suffered a contagious disease.
