Australian based iron ore development company, Kogi Iron Limited (ASX:KFE) ("Kogi Iron" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that the Honorable Minister of the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development of Nigeria, Mr Musa Mohammed Sada, has advised that an inter-ministerial committee has been constituted to address Kogi Iron's transport infrastructure requirements for its Agbaja Iron Ore Project ("Agbaja Project"). The committee will comprise members from both the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development and the Federal Ministry of Transport. The Company is seeking to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Federal Republic of Nigeria with the ultimate goal of establishing access and usage agreements to transport product from Agbaja using both the barging facilities on the Niger River and the existing under-utilised Itakpe/Ajaokuta railway line to Port Warri. Kogi Iron Chairman, Dr Ian Burston said: "We are very pleased with the progress made after our request to the Nigerian Government for assistance with access to the existing transport infrastructure for our Agbaja Project". "It is a testament to the Nigerian Government's support and dedication to our project that two important ministerial departments have come together to integrate those joint requirements. The fact that the establishment of the committee has come roughly one month after Honorable Minister Sada visited Kogi Iron's offices in Perth gives us great encouragement."
