Parents irked as strike by Omani school teachers continues

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The continuing teachers' strike in the country has angered many parents, who say it is causing a lot of inconvenience to their children and affecting studies. Teachers have not yet called off their strike that began on October 1. They claim they are waiting for an official communication from the Ministry of Education (MoE) on when the demands will be met.

The ministry had earlier issued a statement saying that it would help them meet ‘all obstacles and provide them with proper, suitable conditions, and job opportunities'.

''For the past week, my children are waking up early for school and returning home soon after.

''There has been no communication from the school on if the children should attend or not,'' Saleh al Mahrooqi, a Seeb resident, said.

''Teachers have the right to demand their rights but children should not suffer. Clear announcements should be made whether they should attend school or not. It's not right that they go to school and do nothing,'' Naser Khamis, a parent from Amerat said.
