(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) OTA holds AGM
The Oman Tennis Association (OTA) held its annual general meeting (AGM) at the Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) hall on Sunday under the chairmanship of Mutassim al Zadjali, the OTA's chief.
During the meeting, which was attended by only four of the six eligible clubs, the board members and the clubs discussed the progress of mini-tennis project in various clubs and schools and also the performance of national teams at the regional and international level.
The board pledged to continue its efforts to enlarge the pool of players across the country and back individual players, who are willing to take up the game seriously.
Speaking after the meeting, Zadjali said, ''Right now, we have mini-tennis project running in six clubs. I have urged the other clubs in the sultanate to join our mission to popularise it. I will be soon holding meetings with the other clubs.''
The board congratulated Fatma al Nabhani for her gold-medal winning exploits at the recently-concluded Islamic Solidarity Games in Indonesia.
Love and Kazdal win monthly medals
Charlie Love won the men's monthly medal with an overall nett score of 67 in division one of the Ras Al Hamra Golf Club tournament, organised recently at the Muscat Hills Golf & Country Club. Hakeem Alao (74) finished runner-up.
Ayse Kazdal won the women's monthly medal with a nett score of 78, finishing one stroke ahead of Ans Goosens (79).
In men's division two, James Shorter won the event with 72. Kerry Condon (77) emerged runner-up on countback.
Also, Sha Sudha posted the best gross score of 84.
