(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) The official opening of the Best Western Premier Muscat hotel in Al Khuwayr was marked with a press conference on Saturday. The hotel, which mainly caters to business travellers, has been in operation for a year.
The US30mn, ten-storeyed, 203-room hotel boasts of a gym, an indoor swimming pool, in-house conference and banquet facilities which can accommodate up to 200 guests.
The hotel has an all-day dining restaurant, a healthy grilled food restaurant, a caf, as well as complimentary high-speed Internet and business corners.
''We are proud to open the doors of the first Best Western Premier hotel in Oman for guests to experience our unique brand of hospitality while conducting their business and exploring the country.
''Premier hotels are properties specifically developed to focus on the needs of a specific market by offering amenities and services that differentiate and sets them apart from others,'' said Glenn de Souza, vice president, international operations, Asia and Middle East, Best Western International.
The hotel is mainly geared towards business travellers with easy access to two main highways and close proximity to the embassy and the Ministries' area.
Yusra Jaffer, director of operations, explained that plans are underway to make it a focal point. ''We're planning to bring the community together by offering swimming classes for children, aqua aerobics, cooking classes, special nights at our restaurants, and business lunches,'' she said.
De Souza also said that there is scope for more Best Western Premier hotels in the country. ''Once occupancy stabilises in this hotel, we may look at expanding our portfolio in Oman as it's a great destination.
''I believe hoteliers and the Ministry of Tourism could work together to aggressively push for Oman as a tourist destination as other GCC countries have done,'' he added.
