Barzan Gas Project s Offshore Topsides Sail in to Qatari Waters

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) announced that the Barzan gas Projects four offshore platform topside modules, collectively weighing a total of 9,500 tonnes, have successfully and safely arrived in Qatar. The topsides, which include three wellhead platforms and an additional living quarters module, made their 20-day journey from Ulsan, South Korea to Qatars North Field on a single barge measuring 43 metres in width and more than 180 metres in length, said RasGas in a press release Saturday. The additional living quarters will provide sleeping and living accommodation for 32 people working in the North Field offshore platforms, the release added expecting the next phase, which is the installation process, to be completed in October. The safe completion of the topsides and their successful delivery to Qatar marks the culmination of 32 months of close cooperation in engineering and fabrication work between the RasGas and Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) project teams which started in Malaysia and was completed in South Korea. RasGas was appointed by shareholders, QP and ExxonMobil, to manage the Barzan Gas Project. When the two trains are in operation, they are expected to supply approximately 1.4 billion standard cubic feet of gas per day (Bscfd). As Qatar anticipates an increased demand for energy to fuel infrastructure projects over the next decade, the Barzan Gas Project has monumental significance for the countrys sustainable growth. Intended to fuel the countrys planned megaprojects, the Barzan gas-processing trains will make RasGas one of the largest single gas processors in the world.
