Senior NATO Member Shot Dead in Southern Afghanistan


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) A member of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) was killed by a security guard in southern Afghanistan on Saturday. NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) following a statement announced, that an International Security Assistance Force service member died when an alleged contracted security guard shot the service member in southern Afghanistan, according to Afghan (Khaama Press). The statement further added, that the scene of the incident is secure and the suspected gunman has been killed. ISAF and Afghan officials are assessing the incident and more information will be released as appropriate. The alliance did not disclose further information regarding the exact location of the incident and nationality of the deceased service member. ISAF generally do not disclose identities of the NATO service members killed in Afghanistan saying, "It is ISAF policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities."
