As the largest consumer IT and electronics show in the Middle East, the event has once again attracted the worlds top class technology brands including Acer, Bose, Blackberry, Dell, Intel and HP, through to Nestle, Nokia, LG, Toshiba, Samsung, Seagate and Western Digital as well as the biggest names in the retail sector including Al Falak, E-City, Emax, Geekay Games, iStyle, Jackys Electronics, Jumbo ۬Electronics, Max Electronics, Mega Electronics, MK Trading, One Mobile, 050 Telecom, Plugs Ins, Tec Buy and Sharaf DG. The first day of the show was up to the expectations of major power retailers and they hope to touch at least same level of sales that they witnessed last year at the Gitex Shopper. "Gitex Shopper has proved once again to be very popular with consumers. We are seeing healthy traffic on the first day of the event and we hope to do at least the same [sales] we did last year," Ashish Panjabi, chief operating officer, Jackys Middle East, told Khaleej Times. "Given the fact that for most new product launches priority stock allocation is given to our stands at Gitex Shopper, if you want the right product in the right colour, youll probably find it at Gitex Shopper," Panjabi added. "Product offers have also increased this year over previous years due to intense competition between both brands and retailers and this means consumers can expect to get more bang for their buck during this event," Panjabi said. Nadeem Khanzadah, head of sales at Jumbo Electronics, also expressed his satisfaction on the first day crowd. "So far the footfall is good as today is a non-working day for a lot of people here and we expect more in the evening." Khanzadah mentioned that the company expects better than last years sales during the show. Jumbo has added two new categories and unveiled blockbuster offers for 5-6 products. This year the company is offering big promotions on Nikon cameras and Samsung TV.
