Qatar Exchange Index Drops Marginally in September
(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Qatar Exchange index dropped marginally by 10.72 points (0.11%) when the bourse closed the last day of month of September 2013 at 9,608.32 points compared to the month of August, according to QEs monthly bulletin. The trading value of QR 6,934,182,913.30 registered in September is an increase by 6.07% compared to QR 6,537,361,374.80 noted in August. Trading activity was registered on 22 days in September compared to 18 days in August. The trading volume of 165,683,747 shares is an increase by 6.28% compared to 155,894,209 shares in August, while the 83,263 transactions in September is an increase by 5.72% compared to 78,758 transactions registered in the previous month. Banks and financial services led the traded value in September with 32.42% of the total traded value. Industries accounted for 26.40%. Real estate accounted for 14.17%. Consumer goods and services accounted for 13.46%. Transportation accounted for 7.71%. Telecoms accounted for 4.73% and insurance accounted for 1.12%. The market capitalization of QR 524,052,892,915.29 is a decrease by 0.47% at the end of September compared to QR 526,501,324,301.75 at the end of August. Banks and financial services led traded volume in September with 30.9% of the total traded volume. Real estate accounted for 28.57%. Industries accounted for 12.63%. Consumer goods and services accounted for 11.25%. Transportation accounted for 10.57%. Telecoms accounted for 5.23%. From the 42 listed companies 23 companies ended the month of September 2013 higher, while 16 fell and three remained unchanged. Industries Qatar (closing QR 149.90) topped the value of traded shares in September with 17.96% of the total traded shares. United Development Company accounted for 9.71%. Qatar National bank accounted for 8.93%. Masraf Al Rayan accounted for 7.69% and Medicare Group accounted for 4.84%. The rest of the listed companies traded share value combined together accounted for 50.87% or QR 3,527,094,068.92 in September. QE index peaked on September 19th to 9,870.90 points from 3,736 trades for a value of QR 319,222,967.97 with a traded volume of 6,459,146 shares. The index was lowest on September 9th at 9,151.28 points from 3,481 trades for a value of QR 260,211,717.81 with a traded volume of 6,125,579 shares. QEs average index for the month of September was 9,606.50 points from 22 trading days.
