Saudi- Schools to conduct search for weapons on students
(MENAFN- Arab News) Madinah's Education Department has ordered schools in the city to regularly search male students for weapons. This follows numerous incidents of fighting among students using various types of blades, knives and scissors.
In a circular to schools for boys, the department also ordered teachers not to use sticks to punish students for fighting because this was against regulations. Teachers were also advised not to abuse students verbally or psychologically as punishment for being involved in fights. The education department warned that such weapons could be used to harm students and teachers. This was in reference to the many students found carrying knives disguised as pencils, and other sharp instruments such as blades and scissors.
"We hope to launch a media awareness campaign on the dangers of carrying weapons in cooperation with guidance, student and Islamic affairs committees at schools," the circular stated.
