UAE- Gang selling rental cars arrested

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Dubai Police have arrested five Asian suspects who were caught red-handed while selling 60 cars belonging to a car rental company. The owner of the company had escaped after an accumulation of debts. The police have recovered 43 cars. Major-General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation, said the CID received reliable information that 2013-2014 model cars were being sold for Dh10,000. The police learnt that the gang was hiding the cars in several parts of Dubai and other emirates. They were usually parked in front of public parks and sandy areas to avoid suspicion. Al Mansouri said the suspects had an agreement with the owner and he had handed over the keys to them before he fled the UAE. He had asked them to sell each car for Dh5,000 and send the money to him in his home country. The suspects, however, doubled the price to get their share after selling the cars which were purchased with bank loans. Al Mansouri added that the gang had surrendered and 43 cars had been seized. The police is on the look out for the other cars as the suspects claimed they had forgotten where they were parked. All other documents and the office's stamp have been seized.
