UAE- Mediation ends family row over second wife

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A woman has forced her elderly husband to divorce his second wife after she came to know about his new marriage after 30 years of being married. The old couple used to have differences just like any other couple. One day, while the couple was engaged in an argument, the wife told the husband, "divorce me and I will marry a man who is your master." This had shocked the man. The husband did not forget the insult and since then began ignoring his wife, until one day she discovered that her husband had married another woman and had borne him a child. The battle began when the wife confronted the husband with his second marriage and insisted he divorce the second wife and disown his child and declare that he is not his father on the grounds that he was not able to copulate and reproduce. Yet, the husband stuck to his second wife and his little son. He said he was fertile and the case was moved to the Family Guidance and Reform Section in Abu Dhabi Judicial Department. The first wife accused the husband of being 'ungrateful' for her patience and her obedience while she lived with him for so many years. The man's children from the first marriage stood by their mother and insisted that their father divorce his second wife and disown his son. The man then had no other choice but to divorce his second wife who loved him. Family guidance conciliators, after several sessions, citing morals, religion and motherhood convinced the first wife to let the baby's paternity remain. They added that the child was innocent. The husband, hence, lost his second wife and son with whom he had hoped to spend the rest of his life.
