UAE- Manager accused of collecting Dh1m in bribes


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A manager of a company has been charged with collecting bribes totalling Dh1 million from the manager (identified as K.L) and the woman marketing manager of another private company in return for leaking confidential information and helping them win bids. The 52-year-old Sri Lankan, identified as T.K, is believed to have collected 50 fils for every gallon of diesel by making the company of the third accused, a 38-year-old Iranian woman, M.B, win 18 bids of diesel supplying deals. According to prosecution records, T.K used to send M.B. confidential information. He used to convey the prices offered by competing companies so that she could act accordingly. While T.K has been charged in the Court of First Instance with collecting bribes, intentionally damaging public funds, not preserving the interest of a public entity, illegal profiteering and divulging of confidential information, M.B and K.L have been charged with offering bribes to a public officer, forgery and use of forged document and criminal complicity in damaging public funds. T.K madmitted in the prosecution investigation that M.B sought his help in early 2010 in making her company win tender bids. He admitted that he accepted bribes.
