(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Travelex Oman has announced that the Travelex Oman Tourism Ambassadors Awards will return in 2013 and that nominations are now open via the dedicated awards website.
Following the success of the first ever award ceremony in 2012, Travelex will be making an even bigger splash and recognise those individuals who go the extra mile to promote the sultanate of Oman to the country's incoming tourists.
Peter McNally, general manager, Travelex Oman, said, ''What initially started out as an idea for Travelex to support the tourism industry on the occasion of our tenth anniversary of trading here in Oman, was so well received in 2012, that we decided to build and grow the awards making them an annual event. We would like to thank the Ministry of Tourism for their continued support and we look forward to creating an even more successful event later this year.''
Peter added, ''Last year's nomination process shone the limelight on some truly deserving nominees and winners who act as unofficial ambassadors for the tourism industry, flying the flag for Oman on a daily basis. We were impressed with the calibre of the entries, so we look forward to highlighting more of these in 2013.''
The Travelex Oman Tourism Ambassadors Awards was conceived in 2012 to reward businesses and individuals in Oman via a range of categories including best customer service, best young ambassador, sustainable tourism ambassador and best regional ambassadors for Dhofar, Muscat, Dakhliya and Sharqiyah, Batinah and Musandam.
The 2012 Awards were presided over by HE Maitha Saif Majid al Mahrouqi, Undersecretary at Ministry of Tourism, with the Gold Ambassador Award and Sustainable Ambassador Award respectively won by Clara Zawawi and Ocean Blue Company.
The judging panel commended the entrants for their efforts in paving the way for tourism businesses that meet the demands of the market.<
