China to develop Uganda's petroleum field at USD2 b


(MENAFN) An official said that China plans to develop a petroleum field in Uganda after making a USD2 billion deal, according to Arab News. Uganda's junior energy minister Peter Lokeris commented: "This is a major breakthrough as a country." He added: "It is a milestone toward making us self-sustaining as far as oil and gas production is concerned." Uganda and China National Offshore Oil Corporation reached the deal by the beginning of September.
