Tenth Omani Song Festival to be held from November 3


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Eight of the 19 singers have been shortlisted for the finals of the tenth Omani Song Festival (OSF) to be held from November 3 to 6. 

The finalists are Aysha Yousif al Zidjali, Issa Salim al Balushi, Noora Khamees al Nedhairiya, Asim Salmeen al Rehaili, Abdullah Sibaa al Ghafri, Muthir Thani al Mawali, Nar Yousif al Selaimi and Adil Helais al Fahdi.

The festival organised by the Ministry of Heritage and Culture (MoHC) is held in the sultanate every two years.

Addressing a press conference at the ministry head quarters last week, H E Sheikh Hamed bin Hilal bin Ali al Mamari, Undersecretary in MoHC and the chairman of the festival's organising committee, said, ''The ministry under the guidance of H H Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq al Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture, has taken into consideration the standard of the artistes in the Gulf and in the Arab countries while preparing for the festival.''

MoHC has signed a contract with the popular music channel MBC Wanasah to broadcast the festival. The judges' panel will comprise singers like Ahmed al Jemairi from Bahrain, Ali al Khawwar, UAE, Mohammed al Mekhaini, Oman and poet Dr Saida bint Khatir.
