A lawsuit is currently pending on the case, which has made Arkansas Health Department officials reticent to address the situation. Thursday night, however, physicians accompanied the residents to support their health concerns due to the amount of oil that was leaked in the area. The doctors addressed exposure to toxic chemicals and one resident, Ann Jarrell, said, you don't know what the future holds, how sick you'll be in the long term.
Jarrell continued to admit she was put on antibiotics for a lung infection after exposure, and several others expressed concern for their homes uninhabitable, yet demanding mortgage payments. This will not be the last forum for the Mayflower residents, as mounting Medical expenses are pressuring them to act in their own self-interest.
