UAE- Egyptian tops violation list with 245 offences


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) ifteen drivers including 11 Emiratis, three of them women, an Egyptian, a Moroccan and an Iraqi have committed 2,884 traffic violations costing them Dh2 million in fines. Major-General Mohammed Saif Al Zafin, Director of the General Department of Traffic of the Dubai Police revealed that the Egyptian topped the list and committed 245 traffic violations in three years. His fines for the violations, 90 per cent of which were for speeding, totalled Dh176,300 in addition to 348 black points. Major-General Al Zafin said his car registration had expired in 2010. He did not renew it because of his accumulated violations and continued driving it adding more violations.He warned that the police are chasing violators and legal action will be taken for non-payment of fines. According to Major-General Al Zafin, the Iraqi driver, A.G., and the Emirati woman driver S.Kh came next in line as far as number of violations were committed. While A.G., committed 220 violations costing him Dh137,000 and five black points, S.Kh accrued a fine of Dh136,000 and 46 black points. The driving license of the Iraqi had expired in 2008 and 90 per cent of his violations were also for over speeding. Another Emirati woman driver, F.M , who committed 218 traffic violations costing her Dh121,000 in fines. An Indian driver G,A committed 216 traffic violations and received 33 points, while an Emirati driver was issued 211 tickets costing him of Dh136,000. Another Emirati driver committed 206 traffic violations with a fine of Dh125,700 and 38 black points and yet another Emirati committed 205 traffic violations and received Dh98,000 as fine and 18 black points. The Moroccan driver committed 172 violations with fines amounting to Dh104,400 and 34 black points. Al Zafin said the police has issued circulars warning violators of impounding their cars on the spot. He added that some violators had even shifted their homes so that the police would not easily find their whereabouts. He said that car owners who failed to pay bank installments were also under scrutiny and added that majority of the violations are over speeding and jumping traffic signals.
