Kuwait- One Caught, 3 At Large In Rare Govt Building Robbery

(MENAFN- Arab Times) Barely 24 hours after the robbery in Jahra Citizens Service Center building, criminal detectives in coordination with Jahra securitymen apprehended the main suspect in the theft operation - a 19-year old unemployed Jordanian expatriate wanted for several criminal offenses. Investigation is ongoing to capture three other suspects in connection with the robbery, including a Kuwaiti citizen, Bedoun and a Syrian expatriate, under the guidance of Assistant Undersecretary for Criminal Security Affairs Major General Abdulhameed Al-Awadhi, and Director of Criminal Security Brigadier Mahmoud Al-Tabakh. In what was described as a rare, most dangerous and highest level of robbery inside the Citizens Services Center building at Jahra, the suspects on Sunday stole office equipment from offices belonging to the Ministries of Interior, Justice and Communications and made away with KD 160 cash after vandalizing revenue stamp machines and carting away their contents. The suspects are reported to have broken the Civil ID card machine to steal envelopes with an undisclosed sum of money. During investigation, the main suspect initially denied involvement in the theft, but confessed to the crime later on when detectives were able to prove he had taken part in the operation. He confessed the operation was planned beforehand after making sure there was only one surveillance camera at the building and none at the backdoor. He explained they had entered the building using sophisticated equipment and master key to open the safe to steal its contents. Sources said KD 150 cash was found on him, and relevant steps have since been taken to arrest the other culprits.
