UAE- Tourist accused of soliciting paid sex

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A tourist, who allegedly asked a woman he had just met in a lift to have paid sex with him, has been charged in the Court of First Instance with molestation and encouraging someone to take up prostitution. The 38-year-old Saudi Arabian man is believed to have taken advantage that the Egyptian woman was alone with him in the lift. He stretched his hand behind her back and tried to pull her by her waist. However, she stepped back from him, avoiding his hand which still touched her left arm. The complainant, a 28-year-old sales executive, said during investigation that the incident happened around 9.45pm on May 22. She had just come back from work and entered her building in Al Muraqqabat. As she headed towards the lift, she heard someone saying 'excuse me'. She looked back and saw the defendant entering the lift with her. "He asked me where I was from and I told him I was from Egypt. He tried to grab me by the waist saying come with me," she told the prosecutor. The defendant followed her in the corridor as she walked out of the lift and walked towards her flat. "When I asked him what he was doing, he told me 'come with me and I will pay you 200 Saudi riyals'." She turned around and was about to take the elevator down when she saw him following her again. She changed her mind and went for the other lift. She informed the building reception and later the police about the incident. The accused was caught on the surveillance cameras touching the complainant, making her step away from him.
