Lufthansa to renew fleet with 59 new aircrafts

(MENAFN) Germany's leading carrier, Lufthansa, announced that it placed a USD19 billion order for 59 new planes, Times of Oman reported. A statement released by the company said the order for the new fuel-efficient aircrafts include 34 Boeing 777-9X jets and 25 Airbus A350-900. When the order is delivered by 2016, Lufthansa would have built a fuel-efficient fleet to fight increasing fuel prices. The airline's chief executive said: "With these aircraft, we make a quantum leap in terms of efficiency." The carrier describes this move as the largest investment made by a private investor in Germany.
