Lufthansa divides order between Boeing, Airbus

(MENAFN) Deutsche Lufthansa will divide an order for the purchase of 50 wide-body airplanes between US-based Boeing and France-based Airbus for an estimated USD14 billion, Khaleej Times reported. The twin-engine jets in the order will be Boeing's 777-9X, and Airbus' A350-900 with Boeing accounting for the majority of the order. The decision to split the purchase between the two plane manufacturers will give both companies a boost. This purchase especially benefits Boeing as the German carrier relied heavily on Airbus aircrafts until now.
