Kuwait- Jail, Fine For Attacking Top Officer


(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Misdemeanor Court presided over by Judge Zaid Al-Samar has sentenced a Kuwaiti citizen to one-week imprisonment for humiliating and attacking an officer of rank 'Brigadier' from Ministry of Interior. The court also demanded him to pay a civil compensation of KD 5,001. According to the case files, the Public Prosecution accused the suspect of insulting a public officer while he was on duty and attacking him in a public location in front of people. Reportedly, the officer had stopped the suspect when he committed a traffic violation on Masjid Al-Aqsa Street in Salwa area. However, the suspect threw a chemical substance on the officer's face, which caused burn wounds. He then hit the officer and abused him even after the officer informed him that he works as a 'Brigadier' in the Ministry of Interior. The plaintiff Attorney Ali Al-Ali submitted his memo and other related documents during the court session and requested the court to demand the defendant to pay civil compensation worth KD 5,001
