UAE- Woman on trial 'for possession, use of narcotics'

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A woman employee, accused of using and possessing drugs, was arrested by the Ant-Narcotics officers outside a medical centre in Al Mizhar area, a court heard. The 37-year-old Emirati woman's trial began on Thursday in the Court of First Instance on charges of possession and use of drugs. An Anti-Narcotics police lieutenant said they had a search and arrest warrant for the woman, identified as M.D., based on a tip-off that she used and possessed narcotics. The lieutenant told the investigating prosecutor that he went on the job with a unit. It was about 1.35pm on May 27 when they spotted M.D. outside the medical centre and arrested her. The woman sergeant found tramadol pills in M.D.'s purse and other tablets of two different brands. A police officer, who quizzed M.D., learnt that she also used heroin. Injection marks were visible on her hand. M.D. admitted in the investigation that she used tramadol and claimed that a compatriot man gave her the drugs for free telling her to purchase it from him later. M.D.'s relative, a 27-year-old Emirati employee, identified as H.D., was supposed to be charged with using drugs in the same case. However, the Public Prosecution could not provide sufficient evidence.
