South Sudan earns USD1 b from oil


(MENAFN) South Sudan oil minister said that the country earned USD1 billion since production picked up again last April, The Peninsula reported. South Sudan exported 9.8 million barrels of oil from April to September earning USD969 million. The oil has to pass through pipelines in neighboring Sudan to be exported. Sudan received USD91 million in fees for transporting the oil through its land and an additional USD147 million as a compensation for the lost oil when the two countries split in 2011.
