UAE- Two held for robbing bank clients

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Two Afghan men, charged with lying in wait and robbing bank customers who had just withdrawn money from banks, came to the country during Ramadan in the hope they would be able to swipe more money. The Sharjah Police received robbery reports from several clients of different Sharjah banks, who said they were attacked by robbers who stole the money and ran away. A police officer said all robberies had been conducted through the same methods. A security team was formed to investigate the series of robberies and two suspects were arrested. The men were both found to be illegally residing in the country, after they stayed on once their tourist visas had expired. The men were also holding temporary passports that had expired more than a year ago. During interrogation of the suspects, it was discovered they had arrived in the country during Ramadan, to yield maximum amount of money and were planning to return to their country after robbing the largest number of customers possible.
