Fall of Brotherhood prompts script changes in Egyptian TV soap

(MENAFN- Arab News) Egyptian writer and author Wahid Hamid had to change the storyline of his TV series "The Group" because of the changing events and the dramatic fall of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, where their government was toppled by a popular uprising on June 30, a year after they took over. Hamid said that he made big changes to the events in the second part of the drama, even though he had finished writing it. He said he would include the fall of the Muslim Brotherhood in the series. The second part of the drama will start in the 1960s with the execution of Sayyid Qutub. Hamid said the drama will discuss detailed events, and any other happenings that were not discernable. The work will be done in 30 episodes, which will be aired during next Ramadan. The first part was aired in 2010 and was very successful. Hamid was able to capture the most intricate details of the Brotherhood that were not known by many viewers.
