New Zealand government seeks fix on honey concern

(MENAFN) The New Zealand government said that proper labeling guidelines in the honey industry need to be set following another concern from a New Zealand food product, Xinhua reported. The United Kingdom Food Standards Agency made a warning of misleading information on jars of some honey products. Also, honey exporters say the country exports more manuka honey that it produces. The guidelines to labeling honey jars are hoped to be released next month as government officials and honey industry representatives will hold a meeting this week discussing the matter. Green Party agriculture spokesperson, Steffan Browning, said: "The solution to this recent issue is to set government regulations for manuka honey to be exported in properly labeled retail packs that have been through government certified testing."
