Emirati adventurer to tour world's deepest cave
(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Emirati adventurer Saeed Khamis Al Muammeri is set to tour next week the world's deepest cave in Georgia to highlight efforts of the UAE Down Syndrome Association, a statement said on Saturday.
Appreciating the novel effort of Al Muammeri, UAE Down Syndrome Association's chairperson Sonia Ahmed Al Hashimi said the youth can play a significant role in helping the people with the congenital disorder arising from a chromosome defect.
While inside the cave, Al Maummeri will hoist the UAE flag and post photos of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the joint statement from Al Muammeri and the association said.
Down's syndrome, also known as trisomy 21, causes intellectual impairment and physical abnormalities including short stature and a broad facial profile.
