Volkswagen Passat drives record Mideast growth

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Volkswagen Passat has been revealed as the key driver behind the most successful month ever recorded for Volkswagen Middle East, with a 415 per cent increase in Volkswagen Passat deliveries recorded during the month of July compared to the same period in 2012. Overall Volkswagen deliveries increased 51 per cent in the month of July year-on-year, while the period January to July 2013, represented a growth of 32 per cent in overall deliveries compared to 2012. Other high-performing models included the best-selling Volkswagen Tiguan and Jetta. Thomas Milz, managing director of Volkswagen Middle East, said: "The Volkswagen Passat brings unrivalled German engineering and new levels of affordable luxury and innovation to the region. The Passat has proved extremely popular with our customers in the Middle East with a 2.5-litre, 170hp five-cylinder engine, six-speed automatic gearbox, and superior range of technical and design offerings, suiting the needs and discerning tastes of this market." As well as a range of 16- to 18-inch alloy wheels, the Passat offers electric seat adjustment, leather interiors, a Fender sound system, radio-navigation system, front fog lights with static cornering lights and others. "Despite challenging global market conditions we are experiencing a steady increase in the Middle East and achieving record growth in deliveries for the first half of 2013, as well as for the month of July, is testament to that. Together with our regional partners, we are committed to providing our customers with world-class products and service excellence through strategic investment in technology, facilities and customer service," Milz added. Results for the first half of 2013 revealed continued strong performances for the best-selling Volkswagen Touareg and Tiguan. The figures also indicated a strong start for the iconic new seventh generation Volkswagen Golf and Golf GTI, both of which arrived in the region earlier this year.
