High Demand as FIFA Opens 2014 World Cup Tickets Sales -1

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Brazilian supporters have been allocated 400,000 category 4 (most affordable) seats for the tournament, with prices starting from $30. Local residents who are students, and those over 60 or receiving social benefits will also be entitled to a 50% discount. According to Brazilian law 1% of seats will also be allocated for disabled supporters; the price has been set at the category 3 ticket price and those people will also be entitled to one complimentary ticket for anyone assisting them to the match. On Monday officials from FIFA, Local Organising Committee (LOC) and the Federal Government visited the Arena de Sao Paulo stadium and the surrounding area of the Itaquera district. FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke said, "Any doubts about the completion of the stadium as scheduled were dispelled today. The stadium is 86% complete. "There has been unbelievable progress. Seven weeks ago we were concerned, but seeing this beautiful pitch, we are confident. I can confirm that the stadium will be delivered within the timeframe, in order for us not only to host the Opening Match of the FIFA World Cup, but also host test events prior to the competition." Brazil's Minister for Sports Aldo Rebelo said, "This project has been brought to life in an area with the lowest development index in the city of Sao Paulo and helps to encourage the entire region, thanks to urban mobility work, the educational hub, and everything that is set to accompany growth in this part of the city. "The six stadiums that have already been built have already increased the average attendance for the Brazilian Championship (Campeonato Brasileiro), and the fact is that Brazil deserved and needed a stadium such as this."
