(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) GUtech on Tuesday showcased three eco-friendly innovations by H E Sheikh Hilal bin Marhoon al Mamari's, Oman's Ambassador to Spain. These include Mazoon 2, a compact trailer fitted with solar panels, a small wind turbine and battery cells that produce and stores energy, Falaj 1 an equipment which produces drinking water out of atmospheric humidity and Wawqad, a solar oven. Falaj 1 can be powered by Mazoon 2.
The three eco-friendly innovations depend entirely on renewable energy sources and cause no pollution.
Speaking at the demonstration, H E Mamari said that the innovations are an effort to preserve the environment and to benefit people. ''The solar and wind energy which is stored in the batteries can be especially helpful to people living in remote areas. The amount of energy produced varies and the Mazoon 2 prototype, which has been showcased, is a compact design. We plan to manufacture bigger units next year which will be available in local and international markets.''
He said that the Falaj 1 can produce over 30lt of water a day. ''We're working on units which can produce 500lt.''
Another invention, the Wawqad solar oven reaches temperatures of 170C. ''These devices will help save non-renewable resources for future generations.
''The research and development that went into these inventions is substantial, but the cost will come down once they become widely available and people start using the technology,'' H E Mamari said.
Manuela Gutberlet, PR manager at GUtech, said, ''We are delighted to give a platform to showcase eco-friendly inventions. GUtech is currently conducting student and research projects in various fields such as eco-friendly architecture. We encourage local inventors to work towards innovative, eco-friendly solutions which could eventually be used by thousands of households across Om
