Wall Street closes higher on earnings and Fed bets

Wall Street opened and closed slightly higher today amid lack of fundamentals on overall good earnings reported where investors trading cautiously before the outcome of the U.S. Federal Reserve`s latest monetary policy meeting on worries the United States Federal Reserve may draw back its enormous stimulus plan.

Indices performance came as follows:

The Dow Jones Industrial Average index shed 7.75 points or 0.05% to close at 15002.99 levels, the index reached the highest point at 15074.92 and the lowest point at 14992.16.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index added 6.35 points or 0.39% to close at 1652.41 levels, the index reached the highest point at 1658.92 and the lowest point at 1646.08.

The NASDAQ Composite Index inclined 24.50 points or 0.68% to close at 3613.59 levels, the index reached the highest point at 3625.26 and the lowest point at 3593.15.

The Dollar index which measures the performance of the U.S. dollar against a basket of currencies including the Euro, the Pound, and the Yen, fall from today`s opening level of 81.30 to trade at 80.94, recording a daily high of 81.38 and a low of 80.76.

Gold price rose to $1371.15 an ounce from $1365.58. Oil futures fall below the $106 psychological barrier to trade around $105.05 a barrel from $106.69.
