Tokyo Stocks Widens Losses on Yen's Rise

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Tokyo stocks are losing further ground at the opening of the afternoon session Tuesday, with the Nikkei Stock Average briefly widening its losses to more than 200 points to trade in the 13,500 range. The yen's rise and falling Asian stock markets are raising investor concerns, according to Nikkei. Issues closely linked to emerging markets, including Isuzu Motors Ltd. (7202), are sagging, with the Jakarta composite index and India's Sensex 30 in negative territory. An official at SMBC Nikko Securities Inc. said concerns are growing that the U.S. Federal Reserve will soon start to cut its bond purchases, contributing to the market's weakness in Tokyo.
